The Plumage Collection
Background
The collection, titled “plumage” flirts with birds in a literal way with feathers and trim as well as implied references of fowl shapes and tail (back) detail; but the concept behind the theme explores how much of our perception is determined by perspective (where you are)…and the joy involved in the freedom to explore your perspective.
Our perspective is tranformed in the way a peacock is gorgeous just being...but glorious when it displays its splendid tail. A bird is lovely and free just resting on a branch, but when it takes flight you experience both the bird and the freedom another way completely. Even as beautiful as that flight is, and even in the glory of flying, from far away they all look the same and you have to get up close again to see what makes one bird special…I relate to design that way.
The value of perspective is especially relevant to “plumage” which is my eco-couture collection. Everything is constructed from organic, recycled and sustainable fabrics and trim with colors drawn from nature. The plumage collection shows just how luxurious “natural” can be.
